On the 25th May 2023, REALISE project researchers will present their work at the Korea CCUS conference  organised by SK Innovation, in Busan, South Korea.

In a session chaired by Jiyoen Lim (SK Innovation) and Peter van Os (TNO), attendees will have the opportunity to learn about the carbon capture technology being tested at Irving Oil Whitegate Refinery in Cork, Ireland, and at SINTEF’s CO2 laboratory at Tiller, Trondheim, Norway. There will also be presentations on CCUS in China and South Korea.

In addition, attendees will be able to hear about the public education programme that is being developed as part of the REALISE project and how SCCS (Scottish Carbon Capture and Storage) is helping to facilitate the adoption of CCUS at refineries and other industry sectors.

The event will be followed by a workshop on the 26th May at which CCUS business cases in Korea and China will be discussed and assessed. Such workshops, like the one in Italy last October, are helping Mission Innovation countries achieve net zero emissions by strengthening collaborations and developing effective strategies to decarbonise refineries through CCUS.

«We are looking forward to sharing our findings to date and contributing to establish a global CCUS ecosystem to accelerate the integration of CC technologies in refineries,» says Inna Kim, REALISE-CCUS Project Coordinator, SINTEF, Norway.
